The department of Biochemistry had been established in the year 2003 with an intention to produce knowledgeable, technically skilled postgraduates with research aptitude. Since its inception totally six batches have been successfully passed out and the alumni is excelling in various government and reputed industries as biochemists, research scientists and academicians.

Currently the intake of the students is 30 and the students are admitted through Andhra university counseling. Several research projects have been undertaken by the teaching faculty. The teaching staff members and research scholars regularly participate in national and international conferences/symposia/seminars.

The department is also regularly organizing seminars on current developments in Life sciences. The Department of Biochemistry has proved to be the best and strongest among all affiliated colleges of Andhra University. The department got permanent affiliation by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in the year 2007.
